Abstract

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has encouraged the implementation of smart farming systems to improve greenhouse efficiency. This study aims to design and test a prototype of an IoT-based automatic temperature and humidity monitoring system using DHT11 sensors, ESP8266, ESP32, relays, and cooling fans integrated with a Telegram bot for real-time remote monitoring. The research method employed a system engineering approach consisting of system design, prototype development, programming, testing, and performance evaluation. The results showed that the DHT11 sensor achieved an average accuracy of 97.3% for temperature and 96.8% for humidity measurements. The automatic control system successfully activated the cooling fan when the temperature exceeded 38°C or when humidity was outside the 50%–80% range, with an average response time of 1.2 seconds, while the Telegram integration achieved a response success rate of 93.3%. Based on the testing results, the developed system was able to operate automatically, in real time, and reliably in maintaining greenhouse microclimate conditions, thereby assisting farmers in implementing smart farming more efficiently.
