Optimal outdoor lighting highly depends on the surrounding light intensity. Fluctuating ambient light, especially at night or in unstable lighting conditions, often leads to inefficient energy consumption when the lighting system is not controlled adaptively. This study aims to design an automatic lamp brightness control system using the Mamdani fuzzy logic method based on ambient light levels. The input variable consists of three linguistic categories: dark, normal, and bright, while the output variable includes dim, medium, and bright. The processes of fuzzification, rule evaluation, and defuzzification are applied to generate an appropriate lamp brightness level according to environmental conditions.
The experimental results show that fuzzy logic provides smoother and more realistic lighting adjustments compared to manual control. The lamp increases brightness when the ambient light is low and decreases it when the environment is bright, resulting in more efficient energy usage. Therefore, the implementation of the Mamdani method in automatic lighting systems can improve user comfort while supporting electrical energy savings.
